Nestled in the confluence of three mountain streams namely Nallathanni, Kundhala & Mudrapuzha , Munnar is the most preferred winter destination for a perfect post monsoon trek. There are many places to be explored in Munnar and Top-station being the best trekkers paradise among them.

About-
Top-station being the highest point in munnar ranging 1880 mt approx above MSL hosts number of deep valleys, waterfalls, picturesque landscape of western ghats jungle.The breathtaking view from the Top station view point, the sky tunnel and the diverse flora and fauna are the underscoring factors of Tops station trek.
Kurangani hills being the starting point of the trek is a less known hill station which has retained its natural charm. The trek from kuranagani to top station is via numerous water streams and cascades, jungle thickets , grasslands etc.....

Tentative Itinerary-
22nd December
8 pm departure from bangalore, starting point Bannerghatta road Decathlon.
23rd December
- 6am reach the foot hill, fresh up.
- Have breakfast, packed lunch, permission from the forest dpt.
- By 8.30 am start the trek from Kurangani hills
- By or before 3 pm reach the camping site, fresh up , sight seeing & waterfalls visit.
- By 8 pm hot dinner served at private camping site, Campfire, fun, stargazing , rest for the day.
- 6 am wake-up, fresh-up , Breakfast by 7.30 pm, View point visit
- By 8.30 am start descending towards foothill
- Reach the foot hills by 1.30 pm, fresh-up ,have self sponsored lunch and start towards Bangalore.
- By or before 25th December 6 am reach Bangalore.
Things to backpack-
- Sturdy backpack and trekking shoes
- Least 2 ltr water bottle COMPULSORY
- Umbrella or hats and poncho to protect from harsh sun and rain
- Sunscreen and Torch compulsory
- LUNCH BOX ,Spoon and Tumbler compulsory to be carried by every individual(ecofriendly)
- Change of cloths, spare socks
- Insulation jackets,safety gears and lighters (Optional to the individual)
- Personal medication, garbage bag,Id proof copy compulsory to be carried by every individual
- Enough snacks and energy supplies to last for two days
- Sufficient cash, Camera(Optional)

Thsi trek is very special for me as whole of my family was part of it , spl my younger one Apeksha who is 8 took the lead , the camp site arranged by Sharath was heaven 360 degree valleys , we were on cloud nine, enjoying sunrise , Sharath s pro active well planned actions reaps results , met amazing like minded friends who wants to hang out more and more , getting out of comfort zone gives all the pleasure thanks to ATG , more and more to trek and hike ,... ������

ReplyDeleteIt was my first trek and it was an EXPERIENCE.Thank you all for being a part of my first trek and creating a memory, a memory is an asset and we built one, the one that I will remember all my life. Isn't it a lovely moment when you have the mountains and few souls sharing the same moment at the same time? Thanks to all of them who helped me walk :)

This trek opened a beautiful new chapter in my life filled with new experiences, new friends(the most amazing ones). I just need to close my eyes and lean back....in an instant I am lost in the beautiful mountain ranges of Munnar.
